FRANZ FISCHNALLER

Italian. Followed art and design studies in Germany, Italy and USA.

He works in the art and design fields and parallel to it he has undertaken the development of design+art+ technology and in the creation of installations, works, techniques, that will permit new possibilities for the integration of art and technology and confront the reality of "Man&art-Machine&art-interface&art".He has been involved with art+design +technology, in both theory and practice.

Coming from a background of the fine arts he likes to mix the "classical medium of art" with the "uptodate-non classical media", joining hight technology; thereby bringing it to his personal method, which he defines as "Franz's Uptodates".In the present Franz Fischnaller is the art-director and project-coordinator of F.A.B.R.I.CATORS, an interdiciplinary group concerned with the integration of technology+ communication+art+design. The group carries out research activities in the artistic and technological fields.

Fischnaller+F.A.B.R.I.CATORS have produced some of the most recent installations in collaboration with various institutions. Including EVL (Electronic Visualisation Lab) Illinois University at Chicago, USA; Centro Enrico Piaggio, University of Pisa (Italy); Laboratoy Eidomatica-University of Milan; Gruppo Gema (ecology and technology-Amazonas).

Among other places his work has been exhibited in Siggraph 95, 96 & 97 (USA), Imaginą'95,'98; Robotix '97,(UK); ArtFutura Madrid; Salon B.it Torino; Isea 97; Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnica "Leonardo da Vinci" Milan/Italy; Ontario Science Center, Canada; Mediartech- Florence/Italy, and Art-galleries in Europe and USA.

Recent Exhibit: Imagina '98 (France), Art Futura '98 (Spain) , Mediartech '98 (Florence- Italy), Siggraph '97(USA), Ars Electronica Festival '97 ( Austria), Palazzo delle Esposizioni (Rome-Italy).


In the present Franz Fischnaller is:

1.- Art Director and Project Coordinator of Fabricators
2.- Director of "Virtuality and Interactivy" The International Exhibit of Multi Media Art and Applied research of Mediartech (Digital Renaissance). Mediartech is a yearly international multimedia show dedicated to cultural heritage, the arts and performing arts. Promoted by the region of Tuscany/Italy and organized by the Tuscany Hi Tech Network.
3) Professor of the Universitą degli Studi di Firenze (University of Florence, Italy). He teaches in the Master of Multimedia of Florence (Italy).
4) Designer and Project Coordinator of the new Interactive art center of Cordoba-Spain. CICOV (Centro Interactivo Cordoba Virtual). Is an innovative center of a multidimensional and interdisciplinary character in which culture, history, architecture, communication and technology are integrated into a common objective. Which is in process of production. Articulate of 5 floors with more than 18 interactive installations+theatre, conferences rooms, commercial area, multimedia libraries, exhibit aereas etc.. The CICOV will be open to the pubblic in the 2003.

Franz Fischnaller is the author of:
1) Multi Mega Book in the cave "The shift from the printed+book to the electronic text+digital skin".Winner of the Multimedia Grand Prix '97.Japan Foreign Title Award in the Theater and Exhibition Section.
2) Lautriv Chromagnon Medusa. Interactive sculpture: virtual reality + 3Dstereoscopic Vision + 3D sound&holophonic effects.
3) L'Ultima Cena Interattiva
4) Interactive Cyber Necktie. It is an interactive graphic installation through which the user can create and produce, in real time, his own personalized design of the cyber cravat.The installation can be connected to a network. The user can create and order his personalized cyber cravat also on line, via internet.
5) "Renaissance Interactive Painting". It is an interactive navigable "maxi" painting compose of the details of more than 22 renaissance art pieces through which the visitor can explore the realms of the Renaissance's art.
6) "Robots avatars dreaming with virtual illussions". This installation integrates virtual Reality, multimedia, robotics, telepresence with a high aesthetical content as well as suggestive and enigmatic interaction.
7) Ne'ms City. Multimedia interactive piece. A journey through the Renaissance to the 2000.
