Advanced Electronic Visualization in Art and Design III
Seminar and Conferences [AD508 III]
INTRODUCTION
Studio
courses, and cycle of conferences, talks and meetings [local
and networked] with media experts, curators, managers, authors,
writers and researcher, offered within the graduate curriculum
for the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois
at Chicago [UIC], and Electronic Visualization Laboratory
[EVL]. The guest shared their experience with the students,
speaking about their work, methods, and modus operandi, which
enriched the student’s knowledge and information in
diverse areas of specialization. In addition, representatives
from cultural centers, galleries, and museums were brought
into the seminar to give a view of their respective institutions,
their opinions about tendencies in the digital sector, and
the opportunities that their organizations can provide to
artists. The seminar aspired to foster a dynamic and open
dialogue exploring conceptual, artists tic, and technological
aspects related to art, the Net, society, the electronic media,
and current artistic/ technological tendencies seen from various

Associate Director of VRAC, Associate Professor of Industrial
and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Iowa State University;
Maria Roussou, interactive virtual reality
designer, researcher, producer, and educator, engaged in combining
innovative technology with education and culture; Josephine
Anstey , VR artist and assistant
professor in the Department of Media Study (DMS), University
at Buffalo; Dave Pape programmer and developer,
assistant professor in the department of Media Study at the
