LAUTRIV
CHROMAGNON MEDUSA
Interactive Sculpture - VR (digital)
+3D-Stereoscopy (analogue) +Telepresence,
In
Lautriv Chromagnon Medusa, both sexes are contained in a unique
figure, composed by a synthesis of classical forms: The head of
Medusa, the ears (serpents) of Medusa, the chest and hand of Discobolo,
the abdomen and legs of Venus di Cenere form Lautriv Chromagnon
Medusa. Her skin painting is a prolongation of her inner electronic
life.
Interacting
with Medusa is an intuitive action. Her green skin is sensible and
reactive to the rubbing of human yolks. The visitor approaches her,
looks through her eyes, touches her “intelligent skin”,
and navigates through different content and ambiences in different
modes and media: virtual reality, digital mode, stereoscopic interactive
3D vision (analog), and telepresence (local and remote interactive
experience).
Lautriv
Chromagnon Medusa allows visitors, to shift from bi-dimensional
to three-dimensional into stereoscopic vision, from local to remote,
from analogue to digital, and from passive to interactive actions.
Mention
Prize in Ars Electronica Linz, Austria, 1997.
